In the Motorola announcement, they said the UTEK steppers were being used for flip chip mounting. Does this mean that they are using the UTEK steppers to define the "bumps" where the chip will be mounted onto the board? If so, this could be a rapidly growing market since most chips today are wire bound as opposed to using flip chip technology. Does the flip chip technology allow one to place more input/output leads on a chip at less cost than wire bonding?

I was also interested in the INTC announcement regarding the "double-density" Flash chips. One could imagine extending the technology the used to double the amount of storage in each transistor to the point where many bits of data are stored in one transistor. At some point, therefore, it seems likely that Flash memory will approach the cost of a hard drive. When this occurs, the low power consumption of chips could lead to their replacing hard drives. How much cheaper will Flash memory have to become to approach the cost of a hard drive? (I raise this point since a major market for UTEK is steppers used for manufacturing heads for drives.)
