POET Software Selects Verity Platform for Integration With New Release of POET Universal Object Server

SAN MATEO, Calif., Sept. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- POET Software Corporation, a leading provider of object-oriented database management system (ODBMS) solutions, today announced an agreement with Verity, Inc. (Nasdaq: VRTY), a leading provider of search and retrieval applications for the enterprise and the Internet, whereby POET will integrate Verity SEARCH'97 into POET's Universal Object Server on NT. The integrated text search engine will be part of the POET Universal Object Server 5.0 product line, due for availability in early September. The integration of Verity's technology provides POET ODBMS developers with the ability to incorporate the full range of Verity search and retrieval capabilities as part of their applications that use the POET Universal Object Server as the database backend. POET will offer the Verity text search extension as an optional "plug-in" for the POET Universal Object Server. The Verity SEARCH'97 plug-in will also be included, at no extra charge, with the POET Software Development Kits for Java, C++, and ActiveX on NT.
