The Results for this year's portfolio ("unaudited, pro-forma"):
-All stocks are still trading.
-Low priced stocks had a worse performance on average
-Biotechs did better than any other group
-Those results are measured at the end of the trading day, Jan 31st pre-Google, of course. Tomorrow things might screw up a little.
As at end of today, the portfolio was up 11.15%, as compared to the RUT being up 8.90% (733.20 /673.22). This is not a significant outperformance.
Next year I will focus on buying fewer stocks, despite the 27-something portfolio had the pleasant effect of exhibiting a very small volatility.

So, the concentrated ~ Portfolio handily whipped me this year. I had the bad luck to buy some stock which would even fall in january. 10 Stocks had a negative january performance of on average, 4% which is unacceptable in a bull market. On the other hand, most biotechs did really well: Favrille (i got out over $6.40), SONT, XCYT - the aquisition story, CNVX (same), NEXM a very odd one (which I unfortunately sold at no gain). |
