OK, what sort of penalties do you think should apply to character assassination and lying to campaign contributions.

I could see any sort of fraud getting legal penalties. Even extremes of cronyism could be considered a conflict of interest and treated as such. But I'm not sure that any kind of legal punishment should be dished out to the other "general examples".
