But tax cuts aren't redistributionist. They don't take anything from the poor.

What would you call it when the tax cuts are partially financed with cuts in medicaid? When the tax cuts are financed, partially, with cuts in support for student loans and grants for higher education? When the tax cuts are financed, partially, with cuts in any number of programs that assist the poor? The list is endless.

The long paragraph you have about how programs haven't been cut doesn't address the argument. Those are aggregate numbers. If, for instance, you make the point that support for higher education has increased, that's not necessarily support that helps families pay for it. That's where the cuts occur. And they hit the least political powerful the most.
