- It's hardly a defense (of the concept) to say something is legal when the laws were set corruptly. It's just two wrong ideas protecting each other It is not and should not be a legal defense but it is to an extent a moral defense. If government officials demand bribes and kickbacks in order to either let your company continue to operate, or to not give so much favor to your competitors as to cause a major problem for your company, then bribery isn't quite so horrible. I didn't say it was not wrong, but IMO it is less wrong in such an environment. The greater wrong is done by the government officials. Microsoft isn't really a monopoly, just a dominant company. And there is a software industry in the US. Of course Microsoft is a big part of it but a lot of non-Microsoft software gets produced in the US. Both of your points where relevant to issues raised in the blog post, but neither was directed at its central point. Do you have any opinions about the rest of the post? Tim
