Most of those countries pay half of what we do for health care and enjoy greater longevity, lower infant mortality and generally do better on most metrics.

As I've said elsewhere. Our government healthcare spending per capita is not all that different from Sweden's. The difference is that in Sweden the government share covers something like 85% of costs, in the US the government share covers 44% of total costs.

In the end, we're paying about twice as much, and getting worse care.

There is no one cause for this. The entire system is a disaster.
