Mostly off topic.

I've seen a few comments about the lack of protesting compared to the late 60s and early 70s and I think most of them are off the mark.

To put things in perspective, it probably would have been more accurate to label the so called "anti war movement" of three decades ago as the anti draft movement. The difference between then and now is everyone in Iraq is there by choice, although perhaps not by preference.

Vietnam was fought largely through the use of slave armies and every male of fighting age in the US was very much in harm's way.

The bottom line is people absolutely will not do anything unless they perceive a reward of some kind as a result of their action. You can test the truth of that statement by examining why you walked across the room the next few times you walk across the room. Without exception you will always find there was something on the other side of the room that the desire of which out weighed the benefits of staying where you were. Everything people do throughout their lives is measured on the same sort of risk vs. reward basis.

So, why would anyone take a day off from Leave It To Beaver reruns to march in protest to a war they will never have to fight if they don't want to? The answer is simple, most of them won't. Even three decades ago, I suspect the majority of protesters attended gatherings mainly to meet single members of the opposite sex.

Where that comes into play as far as 9/11 is concerned is that a small cross section of the population has come to realize they are in harm's way if criminal elements in our government are allowed to engage in mass murder to institute their agendas.

Government sponsored acts of terror against its citizens will continue as long as they are allowed to get away with it. And it's a safe bet that another bloody spectacle will be necessary to launch an invasion of Iran.

With Iraq back to pumping oil again at something close to pre invasion levels, it will be necessary to turn off the taps someplace else to sustain record oil prices. Iran is the obvious target and there isn't a chance in the world the American public will approve another invasion unless their bodies are lying in the streets by the thousands.
