macro level economic issues

Well, the underlying chasm is both fundamental and macro. I find it easier to talk about the abstract and the macro because the detail of policies have too many threads running through them to have a coherent discussion in a free-form forum like this. An example is how often "tax cuts for the rich" popped up in this discussion of proposed cuts in discretionary spending. Of course, the problem with macro discussions is that many people are allergic to abstractions. Problems either way.
