My current favorites, the ones I go to first in Blogline are Josh Marshall's Talking Points Memo, Steve Clemons The Washington Note, and Kevin Drum's Political Animal (The Washington Monthly). I read Marshall because he is basically a policy wonk who is very savvy about the politics and very honest with his arguments. I read Clemons because he speaks out of a centrist foreign policy approach (not mine) with deep knowledge of the players and their views (so you get an insider's perspective who is willing to talk openly about it). And Drum because he simply offers interesting insights on whatever the political news of the day is.

One more thing about Clemons. When FADG started, it was started with the help of a poster who posted under the label tekboy. Tek knew the centrist foreign policy folk as an insider, still is for that matter, and was willing to share that, behind his semi-anonymous shield, with the rest of us. Clemons performs that role for me now.

None of these are Dem party sites. I read them but find that I need to check their arguments with material from other places.

As for conservative/Rep sites, I've not found any reliable. The closest is Andrew Sullivan but I've quit reading him.
