'Cisco warns about the need to "limit unprofitable peer-to-peer communications" or even ban them.'

Cisco warns its cable customers that they "risk" allowing their broadband service to become viewed as a "low-priced bulk commodity.

and other juicy quotes in democraticmedia.org

Didn't Cisco used to have a slogan, "Empowering the internet generation" or something like that?

So what happened, ye multiple Cisco participants of this forum? What drove Cisco to believe the internet model is broken and gravitate to this central control telco view of the future? Is it that the internet is now officially "under new duopoly management?" Or maybe the article has it wrong?

Inquiring minds want to know...is this representative of the overall company viewpoint or are these quotes just some of the cable and telco "business units being business units."
