I think your underestimating Iran, which is a country three times the size of Iraq, has 40 billion in surplus cash reserves due to our driving oil prices insane, and a large, well equipped military. We have only 140,000 troops in Iraq, and they are extremely stressed. If we invaded Iran, the entire region could erupt into war. The Iranians could block the straights of Hormuz by sinking some oil tankers there (it's pretty shallow). With the Persian Gulf oil supply cut off, the world's economies would be screwed. We really don't have the invasion option
