Still it is clear that many (including central banks that do not pretend that their currency will rule the world) use gold as a store of value and to a lesser extent money.

The everyday person may or may not catch up. Time will tell. But the infrastructure to allow this is in place.

I prefer to be on the side of those "who have gold".
