TobagoJack,
Isn't that incredible and with the usual backdrop of coup threats and corruption at the top, like President Arroyo's hubby having to go into "exile" not long ago.

Think about this: back in the mid 1990's the Philippine Stock Index peaked at nearly 4000. After Estrada it fell to under 1000 and has recovered to around 2100 now. But back at the peak the peso was worth nearly twice what it is now so that would be like a fall from 8000 to 2000. EVEN WORSE. That does not take into account the loss in purchasing power of the US dollar over that ten year period, which in real terms is considerable.
