Kerry is not for higher taxes for average Americans. However no matter who is in power next, Bush's mammoth deficits may force there to be higher taxes. The only other alternative is to slash defense spending, Social Security and Medicare. All three of them. Plus do away with corporate welfare and a whole host of other spending.

Senator Conrad says Bush's true deficit this year is something in the half trillion range, and getting worse not better. Bush lied in 2001 predicting only small deficits which would be cut in half by 2006.
