CARTOONS: TURKISH PM INTERVENES [Andrew Stuttaford]

With Turkey now aspiring to membership of the EU, it’s not encouraging to read this:

“The Turkish president, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, was quoted in the Turkish press saying: "Caricatures of prophet Muhammad are an attack against our spiritual values. There should be a limit of freedom of press."

Well, leaving aside what should or should not be permissible in Turkey (a separate controversy), Erdogan is missing the point. By implication he is telling the Danes what they should allow in their press.
