Here is my take on the Iranians:
1. The masses are by far younger with average age under 30.
2. They prefer Western ideals and dislike the authorian dictatorship tendencies of their leaders.
3. However, they also are very Nationalistic
4. They are somewhat proud of the idea of membership into the "Nuclear Club"
5. The leaders know this and it is their aim to drive this younger population into their clutches by stirring up trouble with the West and thus causing them to follow their Nationalist tendencies more so then their dream of Western Ideals.
6. If there is any suffering to be done, it wont effect the leaders, it will effect the masses, thus anything we in the West do will apparently play into the hands of the leaders.

So, in summary, I think we are between a rock and a hard place. Unless we can somehow stir up the masses to revolt before its too late, I predict Iran WILL go nuclear and I further predict eventually this will result in the West having to DESTROY the entire nation. jdn
