Third - you made that guy look like a fool on his centrifugal force theory of oil - but he did bring up the point about the moon of titan and all the methane gas there with no dinosaurs - what is your response? I am excited about the future of man mining the moon with moonbases and titan with robots - but like shale oil - that is a ways off - we need that black gold from the middle east for right now - hehe.

Unfortunately I did not have a chance to respond to that. He replied with that then he fielded a question then I was given a question I had to reply to. I thought there would be a second chance but it never came up.

Here is my reply:
Yes there is methane in space and there are not plants or dinosaurs there either. The difference is that methane is a very simple hydrocarbon. 1 carbon atom and 4 hydrogen atoms. Given a lot of carbon and hydrogen in the universe one might expect some abiotic reactions producing simple hydrocarbons. Because there are some such reactions does not mean there is a lot of that happening on earth. Furthermore there is no evidence at all of more complex hydrocarbons being produced geologically. Certainly all of the vast reserves of oil, coal, oil shale, and tar sands are found in sedimentary deposits. There are no known reserves in igneous formations. If there is an abundance of oil produced abotically then where is it? Where is evidence of it?
