re: This movement into the cities I think caught a lot of people by surprise. I keep getting surprised when they build condos in downtown Seattle and they get sold out in a month or so instead of causing a glut on the market.

Weird thing is I grew up with re-segregation and white flight. I remember growing up and talking to 1st generation citizens that worked their asses off, saved and managed to buy a house or an apartment building on the west side, the American dream. Then block by block, the ghetto moved into their area, everything declined in value, and eventually they lost almost everything they had saved for. Tragic. They HATED blacks, and given their experience, regardless of personal ideology, you couldn't help but identify with them. Their life's work was that house.

Now there is "black flight" (from money). I guess if you live long enough you will see everything.
