"More important is to understand why the editor (Rose) allowed the cartoons to be printed.
Because he agrees? Do you claim a right to regulate his thoughts too?

His reason was to help integrate muslims into the Danish society by showing muslims that everything can be satirized.
In the Western understanding of "free speech"? He's right."

The problem is not free speech, the problem is how we speak to each other. We all regulate how we speak to each other if we want to have a dialog.

They appear not to be interested in dialogue. They just want you to SHUT UP!

On the other hand if we want to hold a monolog and dictate to others what they are to believe....
Not the situation. THEY are attempting to dictate what YOU believe!

The free speech argument has never been under attack. It's being used to draw attention away from the core issues in Denmark: discrimination of muslims and severe immigration laws.
Do as you wish. I guarantee you you will regret it.

And the free speech argument is NOT a distraction. It is at the very core of this.

That these issues have now spilled over into the international scene and taken on other agendas is regrettable and should be combatted by muslims who live in Denmark.
You may have just pinpointed your problem. Is the rest of your society to be muzzled to satisfy them?

Would a crucifix in a jar of urine be banned?

Just saw the editor of Jyllands Posten(on TV news) declare that had he known what effect the cartoons would have he would not have allowed them to be printed.
Other than Shinto, what religion do you know of that encourages suicide attacks? And the Japanese have disowned such beliefs now.
