Many thought the world was flat for a long time. Gold's position was that his theory was ridiculed because too many powerful entities relied on the "myth" of finite oil to keep prices up. I have seen companies revise numbers of proven reserves - like Shell Oil, I have read report after report of paycheck seeking folks lie about data to get some money - from bre-x to current housing loan officers. However we all know there is lots of energy coming from shale, and the sun, and hydrogen 3 on the moon, nuclear power - etc etc - we are in no energy crisis - we have plenty - elroy assures me - we just dont have the incentive to get off our butts and get to it yet - we are lazy eh? From the point of view of a poor american laborer - how much percentage of thier paycheck can they continue to give at the gas station and utility company to enjoy nice standard of living and keep up with the joneses? This is all incumbent gubbment really needs to concern themselves with - otherwise j6p may get mad and vote in some new people. If j6p needs a quick crack fix - easier to bomb some brown people than retool our nation for shale energy eh? I am sure if I was a rich saud prince banging hot chicks and have lots of yachts I would want to make sure OIL - which I had a lot of - was always in great demand and had high prices in the world - if everyone had a back to the future MR. FUsion - how they gonna build those expensive custom islands in Dubai? Still it is foolish in today's scientific environment to risk your reputation to be the lone gun - you usually get ridiculed and justifiably so. However I have watched many specials on discovery channel about these types - one guy in america said the land in the north of america was scarred by a huge flood that was the cause of a glacier breaking - he was ridiculed at the time - but later proven correct - today it happened recently in some nordic nation.
