There is nothing honorable or desirable about publishing cartoons that are offensive to 20% of the world's population.

If you want the American press to make a similar "free speech statement", ask them to publish cartoons of the Virgin Mary as a whore and of Jesus as a conman. Or naked pictures of Taro's wife.
