I know your political stance as I read you all the time on PFP. I have great respect for your intelligence but have disagreed with your analysis of events as I think you view them from only one perspective. It's nice to see you here on VFC where I think that although the political petticoats are discernible there is not a rabid zealous anti any particular person or cause ..

If I may speak for the left a little with reference to your last post using myself as an example:

You say:

Bush has a very clear story since 9/11: it's his mission to keep 9/11 from happening again. To do that, he has launched the War on Terror, now rechristened the War on Radical Islam. The Left seems to believe that this war doesn't exist except in Bush's head as an excuse for a power grab. While they believe that, I don't think they will be trusted with power again. Because a majority of voters (not a large majority but a majority) seems to agree that Al Qaeda is a threat that deserves to be taken seriously.

I do not think that Bush was grabbing for power so much as he was wrong in invading Iraq.. OBL was in Afghanistan. It was much more logical to me to go after him there. I think Iraq has been a bugaboo from the beginning and will not accomplish anything except to have a civil war. Rather much compare it to having stuck ones finger in a hornets nest. Having done that I can verify that they find another nest.. In their swarming a lot of damage is done to the person who invaded the nest AND it didn't accomplish anything except to release a lot of hostility and we now have more potential Terrorists in the world as a result of our not concentrating on one country where the man who was responsible for 9/11 STILL resides.

I admit the Democrats do not have a person who stands out in my mind as a candidate. However, between now and election time there is time for evolving. As time goes by we will see whether Bush's good intentions work out as he says they will.. Democracy in Iraq and maybe by that time the Democrats.. whom everyone calls leftists... I prefer PROGRESSIVES... might have a verifiable candidate.. I hope.
