Peter, That's true. When people in the right places are all involved in cooking the books, no one can know what is going on until the deed is done, and the crime has been committed.

I think that Enron was controlled by a cadre of people, working in cahoots, thinking that they were above, and beyond, being caught with their hands in the cookie jar. Since Grey was governor Of California during that time, it was easy to run rings around control by that state.

Bush may have been in the same circle as Enron, because once and oil man, always an oil man, and it's a bit like a social club. By the time Enron was making hay, Bush was into the political field, and not active in the oil business.

I can't even guess how many "under the table" deals are made in any major field of business.
