Its true NOW. Lets take China. I know firms that recruit Chinese nationals who are currently working in the US to work in China -- that is right, to leave the US and go to work in China. That means the person has to quit their job, give up their working status in the US and go to live and work in China. The recruitment is simple -- when you account for the cost of living in the US, you will be better off living and working in China. The classic example provided to me was a geek making $90 and living in Atlanta. That person took a job in Shenzhen at $30k -- after considering all the costs of living in Atlanta, plus the tax rates in China that are far lower than the tax rates in the US, the person had a better life style and a higher savings rate living and working in China. You seem like a nice guy -- but perhaps reality has gotten ahead of you -- just like it got ahead of most of us.
