Joe invests $100 in the company.

So his "contribution" is that he buys a share of stock. This is, presumably, in comparison with the worker whose contribution is a day's work for which he is paid $100 in a lump sum.

For all we know, Joe is a worker who just got a check for $100. Or he could be some retired person, like me, who earned it in salary. Or maybe he won the money in the lottery. Or maybe he got it from saving the penny dividends from his last investment. In any event, he had to GET the $100 before he could invest it.

I don't see why this is an either-or, capitalist vs. worker. And I don't see why you don't see that the contribution of earning wages is different from the contribution of investing in stock. They're just different activities. The mechanism for payment is different because the activities are inherently different in a way that drives the compensation mechanism. Maybe after work and the trip to the broker Joe contributes to the community by coaching soccer. He doesn't get compensated for that contribution at all. Is that unfair, too?

I think you're comparing apples and oranges and complaining because it's unfair to oranges that you can't eat the skin. I can't find any basis for making the comparison you're making unless you just love workers and hate capitalists and are looking for some way to elevate one and resent the other.
