Here is the text of Carter's speech on that issue:

"It was difficult for them personally with the civil liberties of both husband and wife violated as they became the targets of secret government wiretapping and other surveillance and, as you know, her harassment by the FBI," Carter said, receiving a loud and long ovation.

What is wrong with the comment. He didn't accuse the chimp. He just stated facts. And guess what, he received a long and loud ovation which tells me that those who braved the elements and travelled the distance to attend the funeral strongly supported Carter. Now who the hell are you and other folks to be the arm chair critic. The King family wanted Carter to say that, they took comfort from what he said since it was an acknowledgement on the trials and tribulations of Mrs. King and it was very comforting for the King family that a former President is acknowledging that as a wrong done to her by the country.
