All those cartoons are directed to Israel and Zionism and there are many and good reasons for that. None of them are directed at the Jewish religion per se. I, personally, make the distinction between the Jewish religion and the secular or political aspirations of Jews, and now evangelists, although Zionists try to blur the distinction between the two. Indeed, they call Jews who are critical of Israel's actions, "self-hating Jews".
Thus the Arab "cartoons", as I see them, are quite different from the Nazi ones, as I understand them. The Nazis directed their insults at the Jews and the Jewish religion in the same way as the Danish "cartoons" direct their insult against the Islamic spiritual figurehead, Mohammed. You will note that the Danish "cartoons" are not directed against Amadinejad, Assad or any present-day leader. None of the Arab cartoons are directed against Moses, for example.

Of course, they should be upset. That's what religion is all about -- to hate one another. Although the Jewish religion, Christianity and Islam all profess to worship the same God, the differences between them are more important than any similarities. As I have said frequently, religion is a recipe for hatred and war, not friendship and respect.

The Jews lived for centuries in Muslim countries. If anything, their experiences there were better than in Christian countries eg Inquisition, Pogroms in Russia, Holocaust.

Because I know little about the Muslim religion, I don't understand the particular insults in the cartoons so I can't really comment. But I can see they are insults.

I'd say there is an element of truth, although possibly exaggerated, as cartoons are. They are certainly very hurtful as they were intended to be.

That's certainly the case about the Danish cartoons -- and it's not only my opinion.
