Promissories in business have venues of resolution as I am sure you are aware. In this case there are several. Your best bet is to go to the source and remind them that you were left out and ask for compensation. It is up to both sides of an agreement to monitor it. You cannot leave all responsibility with a company as they may not have a mechanism to remind them of dates etc.. In other words I would say part of the responsibility lay with you to follow it up.
