Israel can clearly dominate the Palestine militarily, this is not new. But unless they choose genocide, they are stuck with the problem. If they choose genocide, they are hosed on the world scene. So they are stuck either way.
Certainly they can dominate the Palestinians.
The issue I was pointing out was that while Fatah was in power, the Israelis didn't necessarily assert that the PA was orchestrating Hamas attacks against them. At least, the Israelis didn't immediately launch massive attacks against the West Bank out of fear of an international backlash against them, as well as further empowering the Hamas factions.
What I'm basically saying is that the matter is clarified. Hamas openly rejects any peace treaty with Israel. They reject Israel's right to exist. Essentially, from their own statements, they are in a state of war with Israel.
Thus, if a suicide attack is launched from the PA, the Israelis can rightly assert that it is a government sponsored attack, not merely the actions of a fanatical and maverick militant faction.
It's similar to how we tolerate encroachment across our own border with Mexico and the crime that it brings to the US. Should Mexico suddenly elect a virulently anti-US Islamo-Fascist (or even a "casro copy"), the US would have the right to retaliate and/or even declare war.
Not saying this scenario is realistic. But we are seeing Mexican Military members crossing US borders. However, I believe they are "moonlighting" with the drug cartels.
