But clarity does not mean beneficial. I agree with your view that Israel can assert it is now the Pal government attacking them. But what good does that do? It provides short-term support for tougher measures. Fine. What good does that do?

IMO, the world rhetoric after Hamas won was idiotic. The West & Israel should have congratulated the Pals on holding a pretty fair election, they should have congratulated Hamas on winning, then stated that they stand ready and willing to assist Hamas in becoming a responsible government. It is actually the same message, Hamas must become responsible if they are to govern. But the tone from the West & Israel was poison instead. What a bunch of screwups!
