But clarity does not mean beneficial. I agree with your view that Israel can assert it is now the Pal government attacking them.

Depends upon which perspective one holds..

From the Israeli perspective, they probably sense there will be less international outrage over their attempts to neutralize terrorist elements, since the entire government (theoretically speaking) is now a terrorist organization.

It's the same thing as if the IRA had won political control over Ireland directly. The Brits could then hold the entire nation of Ireland responsible for any terrorist activity that is perpetrated in N. Ireland.

However, the IRA used a political wing, Sinn Fein, to garner entree' into the political systems of both parts of Ireland. This left the IRA free to continue there militant activities and terrorist bombings.

Hamas should have taken the same tactic... Now they are effectively "on the spot". If they don't change, and moderate, their charter, they will drag down the entire population of Palestine as the world isolates them as an Islamo-Fascist cancer to eventually be "treated" (surgically, or via other methods).

If they change their charter, Hamas then will find itself violating the very principles that they accuse Fatah and other Palestinians of violating, namely recognizing the right of Israel to exist.

Either way, for them to initiate further attacks against Israel will be extremely risky for Hamas. They can't claim that they are unable to control their own membership, or rightfully be able to disavow any such attacks. After all, it's right in their charter...

That's what I'm saying..
