On the Q3-05 conf. Call, Near talked about the burst mode GPON transceiver.

we've developed an in-house solution for a burst mode receiver capable of working at the 1.25 gigabits per second required for high speed GPON. We believe this is the only solution on the market today that currently can operate with the minimum inter-burst time defined in the GPON specifications.
Well here is their GEPON version of the same device.. It might do the trick….
