If one can suspect PDG management feels they may loose, the best posturing for their self interest is to outwardly express confidence, and do it very dramatically. Then, when the case goes against them, they can call upon their deepest reserves of acting talent to feign astonishment and indignation. This to gain the sympathy of the audience, the PDG shareholder.

In theatre, I guess it's called a tragedy.
