I believe that most of the time the law should be respected for what it is: the law.

You might be surpised but I do as well. Although probably to a lesser degree than you do. The issue I was raising was never one of respect for the law vs. lack of respect.

It sounds like the difference in our positions is mostly one of degree.

Yes, not a tiny difference in degree but apparently not a case with our ideas being directly opposed either.

One of my pet peeves is people who leave their shopping carts out in the parking lot so they roll around and bang in to other people's cars, especially if it's windy.

I always return my shopping cart if I do take it out in to the lot. Sometimes I also return other peoples carts.

More to the point, I really don't care if you go around testing the limits of the law in so-called victimless situations, but don't expect me to bail you out if you get caught. OK?

The only limits I might push would be speed limits (push being a mild term in this case). I was trying to describe the law and other ideas in an abstract way, not support pushing the limits of the law. And don't worry I don't expect you to bail me out should I do so. <g>

It's been fun debating this with you, but I'm done.

Yes I think I'm done as well. There doesn't seem to be anywhere else to take this, at least not directly between you and me.
