Hamas is not al quaeda nor is it shiaa.
Well, you're right that Hamas is not Shi'a, although they do receive support from Iran (which is predominantly Shi'a).
However, to assert that Hamas and Al Qai'da do not possess similar religious beliefs and objectives is incorrect.
Hamas and Al Qaeda VERY MUCH believe the same religious philosoply. All one has to do is recall the numerous suicide/homicide bombings that are the hallmark of Hamas, as well as Al Qai'da.
It all spawns from Salafist/Wahabbist/Takfirist philosophy in which anyone who fails to meet their strict edicts is an Infidel, and thereby, deserving of death.
And Al Qai'da, which means "The Base" (or foundation), is not one entity. It never has been.. It's sort of a terrorist holding company, or venture capital entity, which provides logistical, operational, and financial support to various like-minded groups like Hamas.
But let's look at some examples of ACTUAL involvement between Hamas and Al Qai'da:

As such, it should not surprise that several investigations into al-Qaeda operatives in Europe and elsewhere revealed significant crossover to terrorist elements tied to Hamas. A particularly interesting example is the Madrid Al-Qaeda cell, perhaps the most important cell broken up since 9/11. Around April 2002, Spanish authorities searched the home and offices of Muhammad Zouaydi, a senior al-Qaeda financier in Madrid. Investigators found a five-page fax dated October 24, 2001, revealing that Zouaydi was not only financing the Hamburg cell responsible for the September 11 attacks, but also Hamas. In the fax, which Zouaydi kept for his records, the Hebron Muslim Youth Association solicited funds from the Islamic Association of Spain. According to Spanish prosecutors, "the Hebron Muslim Youth Association is an organization known to belong to the Palestinian terrorist organization Hamas which is financed by activists of said organization living abroad." Spanish police also say Zouaydi gave a total of almost $6,600 marked ?ifts for Palestine·to Sheikh Helal Jamal, a Palestinian religious figure in Madrid tied to Hamas.....
....According to the U.S. Treasury Department, "$60 million collected annually for Hamas was moved to accounts with Bank al-Taqwa." Al-Taqwa shareholders include known Hamas members and individuals linked to al-Qaeda.

And now, al-Qaeda. after many years during which Osama bin Laden and his disciples cursed Israel but never focused their attacks on it, they appear to have started to seriously train their sights in our direction. If, in the past, there were isolated attempts here and there to infiltrate a terrorist into Israel attempts that were all, incidentally, thwarted in time since Israel's disengagement from Gaza last summer the organization has been concentrating its efforts on building an infrastructure in the Palestinian territories, and just as worrying, among the Palestinians of South Lebanon and in Sinai and Jordan

The Israel Prison Service has discovered that nine Hamas prisoners with “blood on their hands” decided to join al-Qaeda, Channel 2 reported Tuesday evening. “We’re talking about a move of defiance against the Hamas, which isn’t radiical enough…in the prisoners view,” a prison official said.

That's for starters.. And there's lots more in certain "government archives" that I can't discuss.. ;0)
Just accept the fact that there are real ties between Hamas and Al Qai'da. And those links, given the setbacks AQ has had in Afghanistan and Iraq, it makes sense they would attempt to reach out against Israel in order to try and create a regional conflagration.
