Roger, in libel actions the general rule is "truth is an absolute defense". I am not sure whether there is precedent for a lawsuit against an individual expressing (or publishing) an opinion about a stock. I think it would be a shame if posters here or anywhere else were intimidated in the slightest from expressing their viewpoints. As you point out, lawsuits are expensive. A responsible corporation that was carrying out a legitimate business, rather than a stock scam, would never waste it's shareholders money pursuing a investor that has expressed an opinion about their stock. If I recall correctly, their was some suggestion in the Solv Ex thread about an action by the company against Asensio. Companies that engage in these types of actions will likely not be the ones that can shut their critics up by proving them wrong in the marketplace. Although I do not usually disagree with you, I strongly disagree with any suggestion that anyone should hold back on the free expression of their views, long or short.
