Bated Breath, I get a short sale rebate but I've had to fight tooth and nail to get it over the years. And I had the advantage of managing the 3rd largest fund in the country at one time, so there is some fear and loathing to say no when I call. -g- If I have a hard time, then I know it is really tough for the average investor to get the brokers to stop stealing their interest. Barron's even printed a letter of mine on this issue a couple of years back.

BTW, lots of reasons to sell short that are not bearish. Paired trading and convertible arbitrage come to mind immediately, and a major part of my portfolio is allocated to both. MB
