I have read a lot of Louis L'Amour westerns. Many of them talk about the idle time spent in the saddle singing to cows as the time when the cowboys read their books and dreamed their dreams, which they later materialized.

I think he was saying the same thing that your father was. he said that idle time stimulates creativity.

We should talk, you and I. Look at all the time we waste on SI arguing with people who will never change their minds, when we could be writing the great American novel or something.
