What does that have to do with the absence of a link?

It is polite to give the link to the article we post.

I don't think links are necessary when there is no more information at the link than what is posted and when the source is easily recognizable, both of which were true in this case. I don't bother to post links from, for example, the Washington Post. If for some weird reason someone wants to read the article in the original, he can easily find it.

Since the link in this case was easily located and unlikely t provide added value, I figured you were just poking e, which can only bring grief. <g>

I tend not to follow polls,

I don't bother with polls either unless they are part of some academic study. And I don't respond to pollsters' calls any more, either. I do internet polls, though, because I enjoy doing them. It's too bad you can't trust callers.
