that taxes do matter.

I am in florida with rush limbaugh - I can't tell you the number of people I know that moved here simply for tax reasons - Rush on fox COST OF FREEDOM today said he had hundreds of millions in tax free muni bonds.
Aside from making all the right legal moves, you need to choose a state you'll like. "People go to Florida just for the tax breaks and then complain, 'It's too hot, I don't like the hurricanes, I miss my friends, the pizza doesn't taste good,' " Slott says.
I have known a few people that did this, then went back because they HATED the humidity in fla - the weather trumped friends and pizza by a LONG SHOT. We do have disney world here - I used to live in Lowndes County, Ga - Mr. Walt was going to open his park there next to Interstate 75 - in his site selection - that area had been narrowed down to one of the final choices - but like in other areas he abandoned - local entrenched power left a bad taste in his mouth and he moved on - they didn't give the same tax breaks that fla was gonna give - rich family there called langdales owned a lot of timber land and wanted to keep the power - so now you know how good old boy southern politics cost that state and city one heckuva HUGE revenue stream! Langdale Lumber is still the biggest shark in that little pond. They would have been completely marginalized if they had allowed Walt to come in.

It has become the largest tourist destination on Earth, with four theme parks, two water parks, a shopping and entertainment complex, dozens of resort hotels, and eight golf courses.
Here is a good link to read some brief history on walt disney world site selection - the Busch family caused the same kind of distaste for Mr. Walt as did the langdale family in Ga.

Walt had people looking all over the eastern half of the country for an ideal site for his next project. He had two studies done in the late 1950s and early 1960s, with St. Louis, Niagara Falls, and several other locations in the running. (lowndes county was one of those locations - walt wanted to be close to a major interstate - have cheap land - and be away from the beaches and hurricanes)
There were actually negotiations in progress with St. Louis, until the reigning head of the Busch family told him that he was crazy to build a theme park in St. Louis and not sell beer.
