Has any progress been made towards rebuilding, or building, as the case may be, any structures which will protect the region from Hurricane Season 2006?
I think not.
Wrong. Very, very wrong, so wrong I am no longer commenting on this point as even a bit of research would convince you otherwise.
There are approximately 15 habitable residences in St. Bernard Parish, according to the Parish president (or whatever he is). As I recall, I said last year that St. Bernard was "wiped out" and you did your usual personal attacks that you love so well.
Huh.
St. Bernard is indeed wiped out, no one in his right mind would deny it. I certainly haven't. But it's only part of the NO metropolitan area. Lots of it has had substantial repairs done. Jefferson Parish, for example, has made a lot of progress, as have some parts of Orleans. The electrification of the St. Charles Avenue streetcar line will begin very soon, a personal milepost for me. To say "zero" has happened, which is the point I contested, is totally inaccurate.
you can go back to smoking your cigars and drinking your wine in lovely courtyards
Your wish is my command.
Did go to Galatoire's the other night. The atmosphere is a bit different in a way I cannot describe except to say that things are a tiny bit edgier, the old ease is not exactly what is used to be.
You might try out its recipe for trout almondine, a very good one I on occassion try myself.
