So, here I am, a moderate, middle-of-the-road Independent. I did not vote for Clinton and I did not vote for Bush.
I tend to lean Left these days as a counterbalance to the largely unopposed weight of the Right; however, I am sincerely interested in hearing the arguments from "both sides."
I have learned that the Traditional Media covers very little in the way of the stories that I consider most important, runaway brides and other missing white girls notwithstanding, so I seek news and commentary from the web.
I have a list of daily reads, sites that I believe offer thoughtful, serious reportage and commentary.
But there seems to be a problem with this list, especially for a centrist like me: it contains only Left-leaning sites.
It is not that I haven't sought out Rightist blogs; it is that the ones I have found do not bring enough to the table to make me want to become a regular reader.
Andrew Sullivan comes closest, but he rarely thinks deeper about an issue than to decide whether he's for it or against it.
John Cole at Balloon Juice, same thing.
Michelle Malkin, serious eliminationist issues.
Ann Coulter, same thing.
So, Right-leaning denizens of this little island of sanity, tell me, where are the conservative sites that have the depth and knowledge of a Glenn Greenwald or a Jane Hamsher or a David Neiwert or a Joshua Micah Marshall?
I really do want to balance out my reading and I am eager to hear your recommendations. |
