This is why I think Sandisk will be alright...

1) I expect Intel to make a licensing agreement with Sandisk because it is impossible for them to do everything they are talking about without infringing some broad Sandisk patents. Sandisk has some good coverage on the multi-level technology. Intel apparently has some good technology concerning the "detection" of these multiple voltage levels. From my first review of all of this, it seems Intel will have to make some kind of agreement with Sandisk to pay them royalties.

2) Intel will have to adopt the CF standard if they want to get their cards into the digital camera market. This will mean additional royalty to SNDK.

3) Intel cannot sell a Flash memory that emulates an IDE hard drive without paying royalties to SNDK.

4) Sandisk has many pending patent applications that could jump up and kick Intel in the butt.

It's my guess that we will hear of an Intel/Sandisk agreement within the next 45 days.

Obviously, all of this slightly uninformed talk will put pressure on the stock. I've been waiting for the "Intel" name to pop up, and now it's here. We'll have to deal with it, but I bet Sandisk was fully aware of its possibility. Flash memory is BIG and I'm not surprised to find that Intel is active in this art.

Please remember that Sandisk has several PIONEERING patents providing great coverage for their technology. It will be very difficult for anyone to get around it. It has been the basis and reason for their agreements with other companies thus far. I do not believe that Intel's technology completely gets around Sandisk.

As always, just my opinion...
