As a person who'se done some Texas bird-blasting (doves), I can tell you that as the day goes on and more booze is consumed, the potential for accidents goes up. From my own dove huntin', we'd circle the stock pond at sundown, all of us shitfaced, and blast the doves as they came in to drink. The spent pellets would rain down on the guys on the other side of the pond, who'd cover thier eyes. Some of the birds, hit by multiple hunters, would just explode!

The Sith lord was probably a couple of sheets to the wind.
