<<...Just watched that story on 60 Minutes and wondered where all the outrage about government waste and bloated, ineffective bureaucracies has gone?

Must be some quaint nostalgic leftover from the 90's...>>

I just saw it too...Some of us are fiscal conservatives and we want our leaders to be good stewards of our nation's resources...So far Mr. Bush has demonstrated Enron-Style management with his Iraqi War adventure - nobel prize winning economists have recently forecasted that the total cost for the war and the occupation could be well over $1 trillion U.S. tax dollars. At the same time the Bush Administration is losing track of the dollars we have ALREADY allocated for the reconstruction in Iraq...They have cut spending to protect our nation's groundwater and environment...They have cut spending on basic research...They have cut spending on assisting some needy students who need financial aid to attend college...Our nation still has over 40 million Americans without any healthcare coverage...Life's a series of compromises. This elective war in Iraq is costing all the citizens of our country big time -- most Americans don't realize the full impact of the trade-offs yet. On top of all this I feel Mr. Bush's government is good at giving speeches and spinning BUT it fails to manage well (David Gergen came to the same conclusion this morning on This Week with George Stephanopolis).
