Some South Bend developers brought a Notre Dame professor to the Twin Cities Tuesday to discuss the possibilities of a major manufacturing facility coming to Benton Harbor.
Thomas Kanczuzewski of Inovateus Development says a Detroit company is now in high demand for its photovolteic roofing shingles which turns sunlight into hydrogen energy. But he says Energy Conversion Devices already has plans to open plants in China, India and Germany.

Bringing the plant to Benton Harbor means lobbying for state and federal funds. But Kanczuzewski says having the governor's ear and L-M-C's nanotechnology lab already in place means this area is already a step ahead of other places.

He also says Notre Dame University -- who could provide some funding -- is alreeady interested in using the technology.
