Agree completely. It is also true if the screwing is done via international law and "free trade" agreements.

I didn't realize I'd said fair trade. Must have been a freudian slip.

The poor and disadvantaged, same as centuries past, are served by improvements in their material condition. von Mises quoted predecessors who thought they saw the finger of God in the workings of a free market. While the theology is beyond me, I understand the sentiment expressed.

I can also understand the sentiment expressed. I also see the finger of God's counterpart in the workings of those who try to turn back the progress that has been made. It is my ideal that it is the government's responsibility to act as a counterbalance to the one sidedness of corporate power. To represent the common good and the welfare of those who who are too poor to protect themselves.
