Not very common though, haven't seen that before.
Ethnic groups sure, but nations? I don't know.

It's just inaccurate rhetoric. What's the nationality of a Polish Jewish person? Do they have dual nationality? What's the nationality of a Jewish gypsey that finally got a Romanian passport, does he have triple nationality? Nationality should equate with citizenship in a nation.
