When the republican congressional leadership has given up on rescuing the Bush administration from these claims of dropping the Katrina ball, it strikes me it's time to simply let it be.

Somewhere, we are going to learn, between Michael Brown's testimony about the 9:27 time and the time the Bush WH folk claim to have been aware of the levee leak, there were serious, very serious communication problems. Someone(s) is clearly trying to do heavy cya.

But the real problem is not that. The real problem is the creation and maintenance of a first rate professionally organized and supported FEMA.
